Country music sounds come to Greenfield for charity night

THE SOUND of country music will brighten up Greenfield once more as ‘Just Good Friends’ return for a fourth year with their popular charity night.

Just Good Friends

On Saturday, July 1 the duo will play at Boarshurst Band Club to raise much-needed funds for the Oldham Branch of the Parkinson’s Disease Society.

Their ever-increasing repertoire includes songs from artists such as James House, Kevin Denny, Patty Loveless, Billie Jo Spears, The Judds, Patsy Cline, Dwight Yoakum, Tanya Tucker, The Mavericks and more.

The event will be the fourth its kind for the group, which was set up by guitarist Keith Thompson, who decided to fulfill a lifelong ambition of being in a band when he retired.

Cath Horsfall completes the duo and they regularly play at venues in Heywood and Bury, as well as the Glossop North End Football Club Beer Festival and other functions.

The duo was reduced to three at the start of last year after guitarist Jack Fitton retired.

Keith said: “Hopefully people will turn up again this year and help us to make a decent amount of money for a great charity.

“We hope to give people a great night with good music in a relaxed atmosphere. To get a full house would be absolutely brilliant.”

‘Just Good Friends’ will perform at Boarshurst Band Club on Saturday, July 1 from 8.15pm. Admission £3.50 (pay on the door).
