Golfers play all five Oldham courses in one day to raise £1,500 for charity

SADDLEWORTH PROFESSIONAL Andy Earlam and Oldham lady captain Lynn Kershaw raised £1,500 for a children’s charity after playing all five of Oldham’s courses in one day.

The start of the 90-hole challenge began at Saddleworth Golf Club where the pair teed off at 4.30am, with home player Sonia Dunn caddying.

The other rounds began at Crompton and Royton (7.45am), Brookdale (11.30am), Werneth (3pm) and Oldham (6pm), with the challenge completed at 9pm.

Andy admitted it was gruelling, explaining: “It was really tough with the hot conditions, but we raised more than £1,500 for the Make-a-Wish charity.

“We were both delighted to complete the challenge as it was a great achievement and a special thanks to Margret Bailey from Crompton and Royton Golf Club who co-ordinated everything and drove us between the courses and caddied for three rounds.

“Thanks must also be made to Sonia Dunn (Saddleworth) who caddied for the first 18 holes starting at 4.30am at Saddleworth and other also who caddied – Stella Cain (Brookdale lady captain), Tracey Rowbotham (Werneth), John Waterhouse (Oldham) and Graham Park (Oldham).
