FASHIONABLE FELLAS can find everything they need to ‘Man-UPP’ at a trendy new menswear shop in Uppermill.
From shirts, trousers and suits to t-shirts and swimshorts, there is a wide range of smart casual clothes on sale in sizes S – 4XL, along with shoes, socks, ties, and other accessories.
And since throwing open their doors on the village high street just this month, owner Andy Thirsk has been delighted with the response.
“The feedback has been great so far and we’ve had loads of people drop in,” he said. “And for some reason, we’re selling a lot of swimshorts!”
To celebrate their opening, Man-UPP are offering a 10 per cent discount off everything bought during their first week (March 4 – March 10).
Andy lives in Lees with his partner Suzanne Wild and the pair already run successful menswear shop ‘Oliver Wild’ and ‘Verity Plum’, which sells plus size ladies’ clothes, in Knutsford.
“We saw a niche in the market in Uppermill as there is nothing like this for men here,” explained Andy. “We actually wanted the unit next door as well but only got the one.
“We’ll mirror the shops in Knutsford which are doing really well, and hopefully people will take to it. I think it’s been a long time coming in Uppermill.”
On the idea for the shop name, he added: “We were thinking of ‘Royal Male’ as a reminder of the post office which was in the unit before.
“But then we thought about being upstairs, as well as in Uppermill, so thought ‘Man-UPP’ was a nice play on both of those.”
