Police investigate death of young woman in Oldham

Police are investigating the death of a woman in Oldham.

Shortly before 3:20am on Saturday 10 June 2017, police were called to Cherry Avenue, Oldham to reports of a body being found.

Officers attended and discovered the body of a woman in her 20s.

A 33-year-old man has been detained under the mental health act and two other men, both aged 28, were arrested on suspicion of murder and have since been released under investigation.

Detective Inspector Kenny Blain of GMP’s Oldham borough said: “Our thoughts remain with the woman’s family at this difficult time and we currently have specially trained officers providing them with support.

“Based on the initial circumstances when we received the report, we have been able to progress our enquiries and arrest two people in connection with the investigation and one man has been detained under the mental health act.

“Our work however continues as we piece together each line of enquiry and connect it to the information we receive from police interview.”
