Uppermill’s Waggon Inn celebrates breakfast award in fizzy style

A POPULAR Uppermill inn is celebrating in fizzy style after being crowned runner up of Britain’s Best Pub Breakfast.

The Waggon’s English Breakfast

Every customer who orders the belt-busting breakfast at The Waggon Inn until the end of May will be given free Buck’s Fizz.

The stylish High Street pub was taken over four years ago by Chantelle Tupman-John and her patron chef husband, Matt John.

The delighted hardworking duo have claimed the accolade by Inapub this May after a month-long nationwide search in partnership with Kraft Heinz.

Chantelle said proudly: “Our Large Full English, we believe, is the best breakfast around.

“We source all the freshest ingredients from the best suppliers and we prepare each and every breakfast from scratch in our five-star rated kitchen by our award-winning chefs.

“Each breakfast is perfectly complemented by our Louie Mio coffee in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere with exceptional service.”

She added: “To celebrate we are giving away Bucks Fizz with every Breakfast throughout the rest of May.”

Andy Bacon, culinary development innovation manager at Kraft Heinz, said: “The standard of entries was incredibly high from pubs all across the country.”

The gold award in the competition was won by The Tap on the Line, at Kew Gardens station, Richmond, for its locally sourced full English breakfast.

Other runners up were The Railway Pub, Ringwood, Dorset and Abel Heywood in the Northern Quarter, Manchester.

The Waggon Inn was established in 1882 by Joseph Bradbury and has a long tradition of providing hospitality and accommodation to local residents and visitors to Uppermill.

Today, it boasts a comfortable lounge, bar and dining area after a recent huge refurbishment when Chantelle and Matt took over as licensees.
