YOUNG RUNNERS are invited to grab a friend and join in the next Alexandra Junior Parkrun on Sunday, April 2.
The Junior parkrun is a free, timed event for children aged 4 to 14 year old and takes place in Alexandra Park every Sunday morning at 9am.
It is run by a team of regular core volunteers and parents, and open to all and safe and easy to take part in.
A recent run on March 5 saw a record attendance as the community and schools supported the event.
Oldham Sports Development had promoted the event alongside volunteers, with participants from schools joining the usual group of happy runners.
As attendance broke the 100 mark for this first time since the event was formed in June 2016, parents and teachers joined in the warm up and assisted the children on the picturesque course. 111 finishers completed the run with happy smiling faces.
Now, organisers are hoping for similar success at their major event – a ‘bring a friend day’ on Sunday, April 2.
Come along and join in the fun, and bring along someone you know. Meet at the fountain for pre-run warm-up at 8.45am, for 9am run start.
