2016 has gone and everyone will be making (and hopefully not breaking) New Year’s resolutions.
From getting fit to saving money, it gets very predictable. But how about getting your business in order and becoming more efficient?
Our first article for 2017 is all about getting your technology sorted for the New Year to help your small business not only grow but stay secure.
Tip 1: Backups. Such a boring topic but so essential. Make this your number 1 priority for the New Year. Not just for your office, but also for your home. Also look at your business continuity and how you could cope in the event of a disaster.
Tip 2: Don’t be easily fooled. In 2016 we saw a decidedly large increase in email scams and ransomware attacks. Invest in quality anti-virus, use hard-to-guess passwords and don’t be easily fooled by fake emails and requests.
Tip 3: Use tech to improve efficiency. Technology is there to help us, so use it! Embrace the cloud, use mobile computing and invest in software to make your business run more efficiently.
And if you don’t know how to do these things yourself, then outsource and get some expert advice.
Tip 4: Invest in and manage your digital presence. Whether you like it or not, every company has a digital presence, from your web site to social media. So invest a little time and effort in ensuring your company can be easily found online and has a professional image.
Tip 5: Invest in hardware and software upgrades. Your office computers and laptops may be a few years old and starting to run slow. You may also be using out of date software. January is a good time to review your hardware and software. PCs and laptops can be easily upgraded to run faster – and New Year sales are the best time to get some great discounts.
The New Year is a great time to get your business into shape. Throughout 2016 we helped numerous businesses with their IT, web sites and social media, and we really enjoyed doing it!
