Band in the Barn raises roof to tune of £5,000

SUNSHINE and soul… stacks of it – that was the cool order at Saddleworth Round Table’s unique charity fundraiser which raised a remarkable £5,000.

350 revellers danced the night away at the Band in the Barn event which this year for the first time hosted three top line bands.

The Real Stax of Soul, Decoy and Marcus Songs had guests in the barn at Doctor Lane, Scouthead on their feet all evening, backed by DJ sets from Howling Rhythm.

The Wild Fire Pizza Company and Mobile Gourmet Kitchen brought a street food vibe to the event along with ales from local brewery, Donkeystone.

John Williamson was chair of the team which organised the gig, backed by John Arthurs and Matt Johnson, to support charities.

John said: “There was a terrific atmosphere and everyone had a joyous time. We’d like to thank everyone who supported the event.”
