UPPERMILL turned pink for a week as generous businesses and the community raised £2,361.36 for Prevent Breast Cancer.
Paint Uppermill Pink was run during breast cancer awareness month in October by the charity, which is the only one in the UK entirely dedicated to the prediction and prevention of the disease.
Shops on Uppermill High Street transformed their windows with pink displays or ran pink themed raffles or refreshments, with donations going to the charity.
Kate Wrigley and Linda Gunner, ambassadors for the charity which is based at The Nightingale Centre in Wythenshawe, were delighted with the amount raised.
“We are all thrilled with such a fabulous amount, especially given this was the first time we had done this fundraising event in Uppermill,” said Kate.
“The support from the businesses and community has been truly fantastic and much appreciated. The charity will be issuing certificates and thank you notes to all those involved.”
