THE CO-OP is looking for Saddleworth groups and organisations to benefit from its ‘Local Community Fund’.
The nationwide scheme sees each Co-op branch nominate local organisations every six months to benefit, with £9 million being donated to over 4,000 causes since last September.
When members buy a Co-op brand product, one per cent of the money spent goes to their choice of the local organisations, while members receive a five per cent reward.
Local causes benefitting currently until October are:
- Uppermill Co-op: Saddleworth Museum and Gallery, and Saddleworth Village Games.
- Delph Co-op: Delph Community Association, Delph Primary School, and the Scouts
- Grotton, Lees and Moorside Co-op: Friends of Bright Futures School for children with autism, RSPCA Oldham and Bury and St Barnabas Youth Club.
And the Co-op is currently on the lookout for local causes to benefit from the next round of the funding scheme.
Local causes can apply before the deadline of 30 August 2017 to be considered, and to find out more go online.
