“COME rain or shine, Delph will rock” – that’s the promise from organisers ahead of the 12th Party in the Park spectacle this month.
The popular family event, which attracted a record-breaking 1,500 festival last year, returns to Delph and Dobcross Cricket Club on Saturday, September 16.
And with a great line-up of live music, entertainment and refreshments in store, it promises to be another great day out.
Phil Beckwith, from the organising Wake Up Delph Team, said: “The weather has never stopped us in 12 years and it won’t this time.
“Tickets are selling fast. We are really looking forward to another fantastic event and we hope it is going to be one of the best yet.”
Music will include a return for the original Stax of Soul, who are back by popular demand, local duo Sparks, along with top motown sounds from The Fantastics and, for the first time, Elvis will be visiting in the form of top tribute Kirk Kreole.
There will also be a debut for ‘Walk Like A Man’, a tribute to the musical Jersey Boys – The Story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.
Delphman Gilbert Symes will be compere for the day, which will come to a rousing end with a Last Night of the Proms finale and fantastic fireworks display.
Phil added: “Local act Jake Fletcher will not long be appearing due to other commitments, and Delph Band will miss the event as they are competing in Cheltenham at the National Finals. We hope they have a great time and come back victorious.”
Money raised from the Party in the Park event will go to the Wake Up Delph Team, who are committed to helping the community and organising the Christmas Lights switch-on each December.
Tickets for Party in the Park 2017 can be bought at post offices in Uppermill and Delph, at Delph and Dobcross Cricket Club, or call the ticket hotline: 07716 335822.
