A FUN-FILLED summer in Dobcross will be kicked off with a Vintage Weekend on July 19 and 20.
The event, which is replacing the village community associations’ usual Yanks celebrations, will provide a wonderful opportunity for locals to dress up and get together for some fun.
The weekend starts with an ‘All Our Yesterdays’ Coffee Morning with the Elderberries of Dobcross Church from 10.30am to 12noon on Saturday July 19.
The DVC is asking villagers to dig out old photos of Dobcross and the community and bring them along to the coffee morning so they can be scanned and put onto a DVD and shown on Sunday.
Then in the evening revellers can enjoy a ‘Vintage Concert’ at 7.30pm, which will be a repeat of last year’s successful music concert with Dobcross Brass Monkeys and vocalist Ian Strachan.
There will be more entertainment with Big Jim’s selection of vintage dance music. Tickets cost £5 from the Band Club.
Then on Sunday, July 20, a real old-fashioned affair will see ‘Vintage Fete’ held at the Band Club from 1pm to 5pm.
Tuck into a delicious Afternoon Tea served by the Coffee Shop volunteers while listening to the Silver Band, try your hand at bowling, discover vintage crafts with various stalls and demonstrations, and enjoy a ‘All Our Yesterdays’ photo show.
August brings another exciting event as villages can turn back the clock at a 40s Dance with Katz-Korner and The Singing Solider at Dobcross Band Club on Saturday, August 9.
The event starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £10 from the Band Club.
Then on Saturday, September 6 a new style event is coming to the club as they host an Italian Evening with Victor Michael singing light opera, followed by Italian Music from Big Jim.
Complimentary Italian cocktail and antipasti will be served. Tickets cost £15 and must be booked in advance by ringing Jenny on 07594 276003.
