The show, which is now firmly established in the Saddleworth social calendar, will take place on Saturday, September 5 in the Village Hall.

And this year, in addition to the usual flowers, vegetables and home produce classes there is a new class for children for the best flowerpot man, with a £10 prize at stake.

Alongside the other many children’s prizes show organisers hope it will provide a good way to keep the kids occupied this school holidays.

Show Chairman Dr Andrew Vance said: “We welcome entries from anywhere. For anyone who has never entered before we are a friendly show and will give assistance gladly.”

Entries are to be in the village hall by 12noon on the day and the show opens at 3.30pm for cakes, tea, cheese and wine and viewing of the winning entries.

The Show is also famous for the social aspect during the prize giving, with trophies and awards to be handed out by Saddleworth Parish Councillor John Hudson.

One of the most looked forward to moments is the grand auction when Cllr Hudson auctions the exhibits from the show to the highest bidders.
