MAN’S best friend is also much loved by the owners of a new Uppermill High Street business.
That’s why canine lovers will be delighted to learn Wag & Bone caters exclusively for dogs and their owners.
From combat coats for that special chihuahua in your life or organic shampoo to Bottom Sniffer beer for pets who want to have real ‘tail swagger’, Wag & Bone’s compact but well-stocked premises is the place to go walkies to!
“When I am on holiday I always look for these kinds of shops to buy a treat for the Patterdale terrier Lexi we share with my husband’s family,” explained owner Rachael Wood.
“I wanted products to be healthy, organic and eco-friendly as much as possible and also fun.
“We also stock from local suppliers including Saddle & Moor’s dog collars and leads.
“I have been thinking about doing it for a while,” explained the former Saddleworth School pupil who runs the shop with husband Matt.
“Uppermill is such a good place because there a lot of dog walkers, whether it be people living in the village or tourists coming to visit.
“But after I saw this place it’s all happened quickly and we opened for business in the middle of October. So far so good.
“It’s been really positive too because people come in and have a chat about the dogs who are of course more than welcome to come in and see what we have for them.”
Additionally, Rachael is raising funds for the Dogs Trust.
Tickets are on sale to win a canine Christmas hamper stocked with £100 of products for the winner of a raffle drawn on Sunday, December 2.
Wag & Bone is open 10am to 5pm, Thursday to Saturday, and to 4.30pm on a Sunday.
