IN 1992 Oldham Athletic made their Premier League debut, Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf were Wimbledon tennis champions and Manchester’s Metrolink tram system officially opened.
In the same year there was another first for Oldham as Saddleworth business woman Trish Travis established Staff Oldham recruitment service on Prince Street at Mumps.
A quarter of a century later the Latics’ fortunes have fallen but Trish’s award winning company is thriving.
To mark the 25th anniversary Staff Oldham has re-launched as Staff Recruitment in recently refurbished offices on Yorkshire Street.
It is also the recipient of an Investors in People gold standard award – one of only six per cent of businesses to receive the coveted accolade.
“I am amazed how quickly the time has gone,” says Trish who arrived in England from Kilkenny in the Republic of Ireland as a 23-year-old determined to make a difference in the often hostile workforce supplier industry.
“I am so grateful to and proud of everyone I have had the pleasure of working with and for.
“The industry has changed massively over the years,” added Denshaw based Trish who co owns Staff Recruitment with Julie Hughes.
“Fortunately, in the main, in a very positive way.
“I feel privileged to have worked within the local community for the last 25 years and would do it all again in a heartbeat. Here’s to the next 25 years.”
