OFF the Rails Comedy Club brings back the funny to Saddleworth this month with two hilarious shows at The Royal George in Greenfield.
Saturday, September 1 sees the long-awaited comedy workings of Tez Illyas, Kai Humphries and a first-time performer at Off the Rails, Clayton Jones, with compering by resident funny-man Rob Riley.
Tez Ilyas, a former civil servant from Blackburn, found himself in the finals of no less than eight comedy competitions within months of first picking up a microphone.
After 2017 saw him embark on his first national tour, he wrote his first show ‘TEZ Talks’, dispelling myths about British Muslims, which has since been turned into a popular series by Radio 4.
Kai Humphries is a happy-go-lucky, loveable Geordie comedian. A self-confessed lad’s lad, his disarmingly friendly delivery holds a few surprises.
Clayton Jones, named Liverpool New Comedian of the Year by the Hot Water comedy club in 2014, was a finalist in the English Comedian of the Year competition in 2017.
Tickets can be purchased for the event, which starts at 8.30pm and is sure to be packed with non-stop laughs (not for those easily offended!). Tickets cost £15 on the door or only £12 in advance via We Got Tickets or paper tickets available from behind the bar.
The brilliant line-up continues on Sunday, September 30 with Britain’s Got Talent’s Noel James, Chris Washington and Sian Davies, with the evening compered by Danny McLoughlin.
Noel James, who has been cited by Frank Skinner, Tim Vine and Dylan Moran as a major influence, has been performing across the UK for eight years but reached fame on this year’s Britain’s Got Talent.
Chris Washington recently gave up the day job as a postman and is now taking the comedy industry by storm. With bags of northern charm, he is fresh from a successful debut run at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, during which he was nominated for Best Newcomer.
Sian Davies, stand-up comedian, MC, presenter and comedy writer based in the north west of England was a finalist in Nando’s New Comedian 2017 and headlined the only all-female show at the 2017 Liverpool Comedy Festival.
Danny McLoughlin’s sharp material and quick wits have seen him firmly establish himself as one of the country’s premier comics. A highly regarded MC, Danny regularly performs at the UK’s biggest clubs.
Tickets cost £10 for what will be a cracking night of comedy, and are available via Ticket Tailor with no booking fee.
