EVERY child should be given the opportunity to learn in an ‘Outstanding’ setting – and Oldham Hulme Grammar School is proud that this is provided in their Early Years department, as confirmed by the last Quality of Education Inspection.

The teachers and nursery nurses are trained to a high standard and strong emphasis is placed on ensuring that each child is viewed and educated as an individual.
This is easily facilitated due to the excellent adult to pupil ratios that are in operation.
A child who attends Oldham Hulme Grammar School’s Nursery or Reception classes is able to access a wide and varied curriculum.
A weekly timetable typically includes:
• Multiple sessions with a child’s key
worker to develop social skills in a small
group
• Focused phonic lessons with their teacher
• Mathematics lessons, which often use
chromebooks to assist in developing the
computing geniuses of the future
• A 30-minute swimming lesson
• Trips to the Nursery and Infant woodland
area to partake in Forest Activities
• Music and PE lessons with subject
specialist teachers and an array of other
exciting learning experiences including
Baby Ballet.
Within the Early Years, a teaching day begins at 8.45am and ends at 3.15pm. Understanding the pressures that working parents face, Oldham Hulme Grammar School runs a ‘Larks and Owls’ before and after-school club to provide a stimulating and safe environment for children in their care.
This Club operates from 7.45am in the morning and is open until 6pm at night.
Extra-curricular activities should be an integral part of school life for all children. Research shows that participating in a diverse range of activities can be hugely advantageous.
Oldham Hulme Nursery and Infants offer many exciting extra-curricular activities which include: gardening club, speech and drama sessions, puppet making and dance class.
They invite any interested families to attend their Open Day on Saturday, November 10 or contact Miss Angela Fenton, Admissions Manager, on 0161 624 4497 or email admissions@ohgs.co.uk so a personal tour of the school may be arranged with Miss Carolyn Barnett, Head of Nursery and Infants.
