THE LATEST exhibition at Gallery Oldham – Northern Colours – will feature a selection of work by members of the Northern Potters Association.
The theme of the exhibition is ‘colour’ and this will be reflected in the variety of artwork on display.
The Northern Potters is an organisation for those with a passion for ceramics and currently has a 400 strong membership, with most members residing in the north.
Not all members are professional potters – they also include enthusiasts, amateur makers and collectors.
Members are keen to promote quality ceramic work in the region that demonstrates the versatile achievements of artists through the use of clay.
Cllr Barbara Brownridge, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Co-operatives said: “We are pleased to welcome the Northern Potters Association back to Gallery Oldham.
“This is an opportunity for anyone interested in pottery to come and appreciate great art and, as some of the pieces will be available to purchase, even take a piece home.”
Gallery Oldham has a regionally important collection of studio pottery on permanent display in the Art of the Potter exhibition.
The NPA supports artists in the production of studio pottery in all its forms and many of the works on display will be for sale.
A special launch event on Saturday, October 1 from 12noon to 4pm will give visitors a chance to meet several of the artists featured in the show.
The Northern Colours exhibition runs from 1 October to 3 December.
