WHY not beat the winter blues by joining Rock Choir this January?
The choir is the UK’s largest contemporary group and is inviting the public to a free session to experience the natural high created from singing in a group.
With no audition and no need to read music, Rock Choir has already attracted nearly 30,000 members nationwide and is recognised as an award-winning national brand.
The choir’s ethos of fun, friendship and community spirit is a huge part of its attraction and its accessible teaching approach allows anyone who loves pop music to take part.
A recent experiment conducted by BBC’s ‘Trust Me I’m a Doctor’ proved Rock Choir members experienced a dramatic rise of 40 per cent in endocannabinoids, the ‘happy’ chemicals released in the brain, after taking part in a choir session.
Anthony Clegg, local Rock Choir leader, said: “I regularly receive communication from members who claim their journey has improved their lives or helped them recover from personal issues and trauma.
“Rock Choir provides an exciting and life-affirming platform using music at its core and as a whole experience offers joy and friendship.
“I’m proud that, together with my team, I have built a unique experience that has such a positive and dramatic effect.”
Local Rock Choir members recently performed at Manchester Cathedral and helped raise awareness and much-needed funds for Prevent Breast Cancer.
Members are offered a wide variety of social and performance events and can get involved in as much as they like.
Many travelled to London’s Hyde Park in September to take part in a special BBC/Rock Choir Flash Mob at the iconic Prom’s in the Park with an audience of 40,000.
And Rock Choir recently experienced a number one position in the iTunes Christmas chart with their contemporary arrangement of The First Noel/Silent Night in aid of Nordoff Robbins.
Rock Choir Founder Caroline Redman Lusher and The Rock Choir Vocal Group, made up of 80 professional choir leader singers, have also enjoyed many high-profile performances and interviews on TV and radio.
Rock Choir always welcomes new members. There is no audition and no requirement to read music. Weekly rehearsals start on Monday, January 14.
