WELL HERE we are in peak holiday season and people often ask me if I am busy at the moment.

I have to say this is usually a pretty quiet time for us as the well-organised folk of Saddleworth tend to get their plans in place much earlier than August.

Another observation from customers is often that being a Travel Agent I must have some pretty great holidays myself. I wish it were so but like everyone else with a family I have to fit in to school holidays and the struggle of finding accommodation that fits the five of us in at a reasonable cost.

This year after our Easter break the ‘reasonable cost’ part of the decision was paramount and we decided to stay in the UK and booked with Hoseasons to stay at the Cheddar Woods Lodges Park in Somerset.

It was lovely and a real pleasure to explore a part of the country we had missed so far.

The Lodge was massive and with wifi and tvs in each bedroom the teens were in heaven while the kitchen equipment, washing machine and dishwasher made the adults lives easier.

It is sometimes said holidaying in the UK doesn’t save any money because of the cost of attractions and dining out but we were amazed at the number and variety of festivals fairs and events open to our family for free.

We split our evening meals between self-catering and dining out and usually took packed lunches with us during the day and found the whole week to be very reasonable.

I suppose if all I had wanted from the trip was a tan I would have been disappointed but since we wanted a ‘holiday’ I can say Somerset delivered the complete package.
