GIFTS AND goodies galore filled the Saddleworth Hotel as the Saddleworth Women’s Institute launched into the festive season with their Christmas Fair.
The popular evening, now in its third year, saw locals brave the weather to snap up presents, decorations, food and drink from more than 40 stalls over two floors.
The WI raised £2,000 on the night and said: “Our thanks go to everyone who participated and supported our evening.
“We would also like to thank the Saddleworth Hotel for all their hard work in making this a special event with their beautiful Christmas decorations, log fire and mulled wine and for their continued support.
“We would like to thank you, our local community, for your support throughout this very special year for the WI. With our best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.”

The WI held their final meeting of the year when they enjoyed their Christmas party on Wednesday, December 2 including entertainment by their Singing Group.
Their January meeting and annual quiz will be held on Wednesday, January 6, and subscriptions of £37.50 will be due.
The Saddleworth WI meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 8pm at the Saddleworth Hotel. New members and guests welcome.
Their popular sub-groups meet regularly and including a Food and Drink group, Cinema and Theatre Group, Book club, Singing Group and Walking group.
