MORE THAN five hundred ‘Santas’ took to Saddleworth’s streets for a stampede of festive fun.
Young and old, runners and walkers took part in the Santa Dash, organised by the Saddleworth Round Table, in December.
There was entertainment from Revolution 96.2 in the Square in Uppermill before the race began and the flood of Santas set off down the High Street, through Greenfield and back.
Dave Wood, Round Table chairman, was delighted with the turn-out by participants and spectators to support the event only its second year.
He said: “There’s been a really enthusiastic response and it was a real feast of fun for both participants and crowds.
“We had 100 participants last year now 500 this time and we’re aiming to build on that for next year and keep the event growing.”
The Santa Dash is now an official part of Round Table’s Christmas festivities in Uppermill and was followed by their ‘Switch On’, carols and a fireworks finale.
The double-headed event raises funds for Round Table’s charitable trust supporting local charities, groups and good causes.
