Surprise accolade for Love Lydgate from Saddleworth Neighbourhood Police

ONE OF Saddleworth’s smallest hamlets has received a surprise accolade from the neighbourhood policing team.

Inspector Bash Anwar and PC Lee Cullen dropped in at Love Lydgate’s first coffee morning with a special framed certificate for members.

The citation says the certificate has been presented in recognition of the close liaison the group has with police and the “unswerving support the group provides for the local community.”

Love Lydgate members attending the event at The White Hart, Lydgate, were delighted by the praise.

Jennifer Greenwood, chair of Love Lydgate, said: We were all deeply touched by the certificate presentation.

“It was totally unexpected but it’s very gratifying to know our community is well regarded by police.

“The neighbourhood police officers do a terrific job and they offer a reassuring presence just by seeing them walk the village.

“We shall all certainly continue to support them in all their endeavours,” she added.

Inspector Anwar said: “Lydgate is a fine community and we pleased at the genuine warmth our officers feel.”

PC Cullen added: “There is a real community spirit here and we work very closely with all our villages. It’s was just a nice way of saying we appreciate the support.”

Love Lydgate are planning a coffee morning at The White Hart on the third Tuesday of each month at 10.30 am to 12.30pm. A charge of £3.50 covers unlimited coffee.

The next is February 21 when the group are hopeful of a guest speaker. All are welcome.
