Uppermill FC organises ‘Run to Remember’ PC Nicola Hughes

PC Nicola Hughes

UPPERMILL FC has organised a ‘Run to Remember’ in memory of murdered policewoman Nicola Hughes.

Proceeds from the two mile fun run at Churchill Fields on Saturday, June 3 at 10am will be donated to the PC Nicola Hughes Memorial Fund.

Michelle Simpson, who will be running along with other committee members, said: “Everyone is welcome. Run or walk, it’s up to you.

“Please come along and give us your support.”

Football club officials will run a cafe and tuck shop and aim to make it a special family day.

Nicola, who was brought up in Diggle, was murdered in September 2012 along with colleague Fiona Bone by Dale Cregan after answering a call to a house at Hattersley.

Family and friends launched the memorial fund and ‘Run to Remember’ asks people to run two miles a day for 100 days and to pledge £1 per day.

Donations will be received either on the day or via JustGiving.com – UPPERMILLFC2017 Uppermill FC Just Giving.
