CAN it really be 30 years since Belinda Carlisle released her solo Heaven on Earth album?
Well, actually ‘yes’ and that’s why the 59-year-old American singer song writer is embarking on a UK Tour next month, including Manchester Academy 1 on Friday, October 6.
By her own admission Belinda, once lead vocalist with all-girl group, the Go-Go’s, has done well to survive the ravages of time as for three decades she was addicted to cocaine.
Discovering Buddhism and going clean at the age of 47, ensured Belinda is here to relive some of her best known hits including Heaven is a Place on Earth, Circle in the Sand and I Feel Free.
Born on August 17, 1958, Belinda rose to fame in the early 1980’s where she gained worldwide fame with the the Go-Go’s, one of the most successful all-female bands of all time. The band sold 8 million albums in just three years.
Heaven on Earth, the 30th anniversary box set and Belinda’s new album, Wilder Shores, are released on September 29.
Tickets for the Academy 1 show are available from 0161 832 1111 or online: www.manchesteracademy.net
