The Saddleworth Independent is a free, monthly newspaper with a readership of 25,000.

Established in 2010, the publication is Saddleworth’s only newspaper and has a proven record of successfully promoting local businesses and sharing community stories.

It is run by an award-winning professional team which reports on important stories including news, lifestyle business and sport, all under the direction of Editor in Chief Aimee Belmore and Editor Trevor Baxter.

The newspaper is a member of the Independent Community News Network and is regulated by IMPRESS.

The newspaper is hand-delivered to more than 300 outlets across the community. Outlets include pubs, restaurants and cafés, post offices and newsagents, libraries, gyms and fitness centres, and Greenfield train station.

The website receives more than 45,000 unique hits per month while the fast-moving Facebook page has more than 10,000 followers.

It has a sister publications The Tameside Correspondent and The Shaw and Royton Correspondent.
