THE Liberal Democrats reaffirmed their dominance in Saddleworth by securing a decisive win in the latest Parish Council by-election.
Residents took to the polls on Thursday, January 16, as three candidates battled it out for the vacant Greenfield ward seat following the resignation of long-serving councillor Mavis Bingley at the age of 86.
But there was no change in political leaning as one member of the Liberal Democrats was replaced with another.

Brian Witt was elected, securing a convincing victory with 588 votes.
Former Oldham borough councillor, Conservative candidate Chris McManus, followed with 261 votes, while Labour’s Archie Duncan received 243 votes.
The total number of votes cast was 1,101, meaning a turnout of 19.5 per cent.
