Small Business Saturday brings offers and discounts to Saddleworth and Lees

TAKE ADVANTAGE of a range of discounts and offers on December 7 as companies in the Saddleworth and Lees Independent Business Network celebrate the UK’s first ever Small Business Saturday.

For one day only a number of member businesses will offer reductions, raffles and special deals to customers who shop, book or hire services from them.saddandless business network

The grassroots event, which was set up in the US, aims to encourage people to shop and support small businesses in their communities, both on the Saturday and beyond.

In the US last year, Small Business Saturday achieved $5.5 (£3.5) billion in sales for small businesses and led to an increase in long-term custom.

Saddleworth and Lees Independent Business Network Leader Carol Oldham said: “Our network supports a wide range of independent businesses across Saddleworth and also in Lees.

“One of our key aims is to encourage people to shop locally where possible and to keep their hard-earned money in the local economy.

“Small Business Saturday is the ideal time for us to raise awareness of what is on offer in the area.  We are fortunate to have a diverse range of businesses, with most services and types of shops represented.

“In terms of everyday shopping it is still possible to buy the majority of grocery items such as fruit and vegetables, meat, bread, cakes and milk locally.”

Saddleworth companies providing offers on Small Business Saturday include Dormouse and The Teapot, Infinity Computing, Jenny Martin Photography, Le Paradis and Pitter Patter Shoes, Loretta Douglas Temple Spa, Saddleworth Property Management,  Stonehouse Creative Services, Style and Salvaged, Twisted Design Crafts, Whittaker Design, Woozlewood and Yvonne’s Crafty Knits and Bits.

The network, which was set up in 2012, now has more than 200 members and supports and promotes businesses in the area.
