The husband and wife team have run the Post Office and shop on King Street for a decade and a half but have now decided it is their time to move on.

They will close the doors for the last time at the end of trading on Thursday, September 28 and hand over the keys to Izhar and Oazmia.

The premises will then be shut for a two-week, full Post Office refurbishment before being re-opened by the new team on October 11.

Wendy and Eric, who live in Stalybridge, said: “We have enjoyed our time working here and appreciate the loyalty of our customers over this period.

“We will really miss working here and the customers as over the years we have really felt a big part of the community and met some lovely people and made some good friends.

“We hope everyone will continue to support the new owners, as much as they have us, in their venture and make sure we keep a Post Office in Delph.”

The Post Office refurbishment is taking place to create a more modern and convenient setting with an open plan style service point.

Opening hours will increase to Monday to Friday from 8am-6pm and Saturday from 9am-12.30pm (closed on Sunday).

Services currently available will still be offered by the refurbished branch, except for international parcels and on demand travel insurance.
