GREENFIELD Post Office is closing its doors on Monday, October 16 as it moves down the village high street to new premises.
Popular sub postmistress Mandy Gorey will ring the tills for the last time at the current premises on Chew Valley Road at 5.30pm on the Monday.
Then on Tuesday, October 17 services will resume at a new location inside Greenfield Newsagents just further down the road.
Until then, full post office and mail services will be available at the current Post Office, which is set to be converted into a house when it closes.
Mandy, who is stepping down as sub postmistress, said: “I have been here for 17-and-a-half years and every one of those has been absolutely fantastic.
“I want to say a big thank you to everyone for their support over that time.”
The new branch at the Newsagents will be open from 5am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, Saturday 5am-3pm and Sunday, 5am-1pm.
As part of improved accessibility measures, a handrail, bell and signage will be installed at the entrance while a portable ramp will be available for customers on request.
Meanwhile, in Delph it is also all change as postmasters of 15 years Eric and Wendy Dodd have passed on the reins as the store undergoes a full refurbishment.
They closed the doors for the last time at the end of trading on Thursday, September 28 and handed over the keys to Izhar and Oazmia.
The premises are shut for a two-week, full Post Office refurbishment before being re-opened by the new team on Wednesday, October 11.
Wendy and Eric, who live in Stalybridge, said: “We have enjoyed our time working here and appreciate the loyalty of our customers over this period.
“We will really miss working here and the customers as over the years we have really felt a big part of the community and met some lovely people and made some good friends.
“We hope everyone will continue to support the new owners, as much as they have us, in their venture and make sure we keep a Post Office in Delph.”
The Post Office refurbishment is taking place to create a more modern and convenient setting with an open plan style service point.
Opening hours will increase to Monday to Friday from 8am-6pm and Saturday from 9am-12.30pm (closed on Sunday).
