How social is your business?  3 simple steps for getting online

SOCIAL MEDIA is generally used for people to post photos of their latest holidays and kids’ achievements.

However, more and more small business are realising the potential of social media as an advertising medium.

According to a study by the Internet Advertising Bureau UK, they found “nearly 80 per cent of consumers said they would be more inclined to buy more often in the future because of a brand’s presence on social media”.

Based upon this information, we wanted to share a simple three-step guide to get your business online and into the world of social media.
Step 1: Your goals and audience

The first step is to decide on the goals for your online presence. What do you want to achieve?

Some examples include:

  1. Drive more traffic to your website?
  2. Improve customer retention?
  3. Create brand awareness?
  4. Promote products and offers

When you know your goals then you have also started to select your target audience. So think about who the people are you are targeting and the conversation style you will use.


Step 2: Choose your platforms

Now you know your goals and audience, you need to select which social platforms to use. Don’t just use one platform as using multiple will help with your online visibility. So look into Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest Instagram and Google+ etc and see what is most suited to your target audience.

Step 3: Be Social!

Once you have your social media accounts set up, be social and keep updating your profiles. Regular posts are essential to ensure you’re actively speaking to your audience.

Don’t forget to let your personality come through and engage with people, especially if they post questions or reviews.
