TALENTED MUSICANS are bringing Diggle Band Club to life on the last Saturday of each month to help keep the club at the centre of community life.
The gigs, organised by the Friends of Diggle Band Club, feature top-class local bands and a range of genres to give music fans a treat as well as raise funds to keep the club afloat.
After a successful first gig in January with JunkHouseDog Blues Band, the schedule is already booked up until May by groups and artists.
Promotions co-ordinator Thomas Robinson said the variety of acts offer something different to standard pub entertainment and he hopes the project will benefit the whole community.
“By offering these acts, Diggle Band Club can be a hub for the village, attracting more people to meet socially at the club,” he said.
“The current economic climate has meant that in addition to bars and pubs, social clubs such as the band clubs are feeling the pinch as the public tighten their belts, and socialise at home.
“These new band events will help ensure that Diggle Band Club survives for the benefit of the community.”
The evenings are open to all for just £5, including a hot supper, and all gigs start at 7pm. Tickets for gigs are available from Diggle Band Club, Diggle Post Office or pay on the door. If you would like to play at Diggle Band Club, please contact Carolyn on 07789 204085.
