Basketball stars reunited

FOUR former Oldham Celtics’ basketball players had a reunion, not on the court but the golf course.American Cleave Lewis joined Grasscroft’s Jamie Edwards, Don Errock and Vic Scantlebury on the tee at Werneth Golf Club.

Lewis, Celtics’ first professional player when the club was elected to the National League in 1985, was returning for the first time in 18 years.

He was here for the wedding of his son CJ, a personal trainer, who lives in Greenfield.
Lewis joined Celtic after graduating from Fresno State University.

He later played for Teesside, Hemel Hempstead and Worthing.

Lewis lives at Idaho Falls where he delivers basketball programmes at a local recreation centre.
Edwards, who has long lived in Saddleworth, is a former England international.

He is a performance coach and has his own company Trained Brain.
