BBC One to broadcast Christmas Morning Live from Oldham Parish Church

BE part of a special occasion as BBC One’s Christmas Day service will be broadcast this year from Oldham Parish Church.

Christmas Morning Live – on December 25 from 10am-11am – promises to be a heart-warming Christmas family service.

It will feature popular carols, including O Come All Ye Faithful and While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks by night, accompanied by award-winning Oldham Band (Lees).

The Bishop of Manchester, Rt Revd David Walker, will lead the service, along with Revd Derek Palmer, Canon Jean Hurlston, and Revd Charlie Annis.

There is a special appearance by this year’s Youth Bishop as the church follows the medieval tradition of appointing a young person to take on some of the Bishop’s Christmas duties. The choir and congregation will come from throughout the town, representing the many different traditions of the area.

Fr Derek Palmer, the vicar of Oldham, said: “If you enjoy singing Christmas carols and you’d like to join the congregation for this special broadcast, please get in touch.”

Tickets, to help plan for the numbers attending, are available free of charge. Please call 0161 624 4866 for further details.
