BRIDGES ESTATE AGENTS: Preparing for your next move

THE NEW Year festivities are over and most of us are now trying to action our New Year’s resolutions, writes Raychel Hobbs.

One resolution really worth pursuing could be planning and preparing for your next house move.

Traditionally many people leave the practicalities of moving to the spring but January and February are perfect months to start to make plans to prepare for buying or selling a house.

For buyers this includes budgeting and securing any finance requirements, deciding on your key home needs and researching the best locations for you.

For sellers this may involve doing any repairs or maintenance on your house, decluttering and researching the most realistic price for your property.

It appears that house prices will continue to rise nationally in 2014 and that the housing market will be buoyant.

Early preparation can give you a clear advantage when the spring arrives and the market starts to move.

You will be ready to move quickly while others are only just getting into gear and considering their options and needs.
