YOU MAY think Autumn/Winter is not the best time to bring your property to the market to sell.

Many people think Spring is the best time to put their property on the market.  However, this is not the case.

People usually move for a very good reason – they may be relocating for employment, they may want more room for a growing family, may be down-sizing now the family has fled the nest or they may just want a change of scenery.

With this in mind these changes to people’s circumstances can happen at any time, so people choose to move at anytime.  So don’t hold off bringing your property to the market during this period – just consider these few hints and tips to help you sell over this time.

Do not neglect the garden.  Deadhead old flowers, give the lawn a final Autumn mow.  Winter hanging baskets or tubs with flowers or evergreens will add a bright and welcoming touch.  Ensure all falling leaves are brushed away regularly.

Don’t forget to get your gutters cleaned of leaves and debris.  Also a good wash-down of your outside paintwork will keep the property looking cared for.  Ensure your windows are clean.

If your viewers are calling late afternoon or early evening, create a warm welcome, switch on some low lamps, turn on the central heating before your viewers arrive or if you have an open fire or multiburner, light it to give a welcoming homely feel.

Also, something to remember: if you do bring your property to the market in the Winter and the external photographs show snow on the ground, be sure to get these photographs updated when the weather improves. Otherwise people will quickly notice once the snow has disappeared that your property has been on the market for sometime.
