THE SEARCH is on for a treasured Whit Friday Band Contest Cup which was donated by a local family.
An array of cups for winners at the annual contest at Friezland has recently been unearthed in Christ Church Hall cellar after being missed for years.
But The Hadfield Cup, which was donated in memory of Shirley Margaret Hadfield, was not among them – so the contest committee hopes someone can help them find it.
Sue Beesley, Church Warden and Whit Friday Committee member, explained: “The cups disappeared and no one seemed to know where they went.
“We searched around and found them but there is just one missing – the Hadfield Cup.
“We want to know if anyone knows where it is. Perhaps a band took it home and forgot to return it?
She added: “We’ve got some splendid cups here to be cleaned up. They have been down in the cellar for a while but still in good condition.”
The Hadfields will once again be sponsoring a prize at this year’s Friezland Band Contest, along with numerous other local businesses and families.
The family event sees brass bands from across the country compete for the prizes, while spectators also enjoy a barbeque, cafe and outside bar.
