CCTV footage released as detectives hunt Greenfield attempted burglary gang

Detectives have released CCTV footage of four men trying to steal a cash machine in Greenfield.

Shortly before 3am on Tuesday 20 December 2016 three men pulled up on Chew Valley Road outside the Premier Greenfield shop in a blue Volkswagen Golf.

A short time after a white transit van – which was stolen from Salford – pulled up with one man driving.

Using the van and a tether, the gang tried to pull the cash machine out of the shop. After a number of failed attempts the men then fled the scene in the Golf and left the van nearby.

All the men are described as wearing Mexican-style wrestling masks.

Detectives recovered the van and have since been carrying out extensive enquiries.

Detective Constable, Mike Hayman from Oldham’s CID team, said: “We have released this CCTV footage in the hope that someone might have information about this offence.

“If you were in the area at the time or saw both the vehicles prior to the incident, I would urge you to call us.

“Any information, no matter how trivial, could really help us with this investigation.”
