Celebrity jewellery maker to teach course in Uppermill

MANCHESTER designer Julia Roy Williams will be running a contemporary jewellery-making course at the Weavers Factory in Uppermill on Saturday May 18th and Sunday May 19th, 2019.

The weekend course will teach people the basics of manipulating perspex to make their own amazing art jewellery.

Julia will demonstrate how she generates design ideas and share the approach she uses to turn her inspiration into jewellery designs.

She will also show people how to saw, file, use pliers, heat form, drill and finish their design.

Working over the weekend students will be given you a opportunity to master the tools and techniques at their own pace and leaving after two days tuition with the skills to continue making at home, and a collection of art jewellery they’ll have made themselves.

Julia, who runs a jewellery brand called Wonderhaus designs bold and tactile jewellery using a kaleidoscope of perspex, wood, brass, snakeskin and leather, influenced by mythical creatures, spirographs, art deco architecture, African batik print and Mexican folk art.

Julia’s celebrity fans include Maxine Peake and supermodel Erin O’ Connor.
