LOCALS PUT on their thinking caps for a good cause as they raised £160 at a special charity Quiz Night at Dobcross Band Club.
The event was part of Pub Aid’s ‘World’s Biggest Pub Quiz’ which was staged on March 5 all around the country, with pubs and clubs taking part to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.
Janet Iles, from The Diggle and Delph Donkeys Quiz team, saw the event details on Facebook, and asked John Holden, the steward at Dobcross Band Club, to help set up an event.
The regular Sunday night quizzers at the band club joined the event, along with others in the area, and the band club very generously provided the prizes for the winning team.
On the night Geoff Iles read out the quiz questions, which were supplied by Pub Aid, and six teams battled it out for first place.
The title was claimed by the ‘Shining D.Ds’, a combined team of The Diggle and Delph Donkeys and some of the Shining Wits team, who play in a local weekly quiz league.
The winning team included Andy Johnson and Linda Johnson (Shining Wits) and Janet Iles, Jenny Cordingley, Neal Tomlinson and Katherine Tomlinson (D.Ds).
A big thank you to John Holden and Dobcross Band Club for staging the event.
