Community helps Police make quick arrest after burglaries in Saddleworth

The Saddleworth policing team has thanked the community after their quick response helped lead to the arrest of two offenders following burglaries in the community.

On their Facebook page, GMP Saddleworth reported: “Two offenders detained after being pursued by one of our Police Dogs across fields towards Castleshaw Centre and the reservoir.

“Superb effort by around 20 officers in closing the net around these two offenders. Car seized 2 detained and arrested.

“This was in answer to a call from an alert from a resident at Diggle following our call out to the community #ifyouseesomethingsaysomething and Saddleworth you did.”

Earlier, the had police confirmed reports of two burglaries that day, one on Stoneswood Road, Delph and another on Streethouse Lane, Dobcross.

It comes as the latest in a string of burglaries across the area, which has seen armed police brought into help combat more than 70 raids since August.
