A TRANSFORMED Church hall is throwing open its door and inviting the community to make good use of its brand new facilities.
Delph Methodist Church began a programme of fundraising in the summer of 2011 so they could afford to refurbish the upper level of the church hall, which had become unsafe to use.
Now, after extensive work, the hall boasts a new kitchen and toilet facilities and a lift has been installed to offer easier access to upstairs for disabled people and those with small children.
The lower floor, with another hall and a comfortable, smaller meeting room, has also been redecorated, to provide an attractive, flexible space for community activities.
The hall is already home to a Mums and Tots club, Street Dance Class, Cubs and Beavers, badminton groups, wives and fellowship groups, and church activities, such as the weekly Saturday Coffee Morning.
It is also used by drama groups and recently hosted nativity plays and concerts, and is available for hire for parties and functions at a reasonable charge.
And the Church wants to encourage more groups and members of the community to take advantage of the new facilities available.
Margaret Taylor, Property Steward for Delph Methodist Church, said: “We would be delighted to see the hall fully employed and would be pleased to hear from individuals or groups looking for a space to use.
“So much hard work has gone into making this a facility for everyone to use and enjoy.”
