Crafters launch gift shop brimming with goodies

THREE AMBITIOUS women have teamed up to bring a delightful array of handmade goods from talented local crafters to a new gift shop in Uppermill.

Viki Taylor, Helen Robinson and Joanne Ward, who all already run their own businesses, officially opened Authentic this month on Mill Street in the former Emmaus building.

Bursting with handcrafted products of all kinds including soft furnishings, jewellery, candles, soaps and woolly hats, it is a treasure-trove of gifts and goodies.

Viki, who runs hand-crafted wooden curios company Woozlewood, will be selling some of her items in the shop, along with Helen’s soaps from Ma’s Bars and Joanne’s jewellery from Twisted Designs.

Viki, a mother of two from Greenfield, explained: “We decided Uppermill needed somewhere for people to be able to buy the fabulous selection of handmade local goods that are available.

“Individually we have been making our handcrafted products for years, selling them online and at craft fairs.
“Now we have come together and have invited other local artisans to display their products. Everything is handmade to an exceptional standard.”

The shop is being launched with an open weekend from November 7 to Sunday 9 and then will be open seven days a week.

Viki added: “Authentic will be a one-stop shop for all your gift shopping and will also ensure you will be buying local and supporting local businesses.”
