Cricketing legend Cec Wright retires… aged 85!

Cricketing legend Cec Wright is finally retiring from playing at the age of 85.

Cec’s final game will be for Uppermill’s second team at home to Springhead on Saturday, September 7, wickets pitched at 12.30pm.

And following the game in the clubhouse there will be an evening tribute to Cec’s remarkable career with former team-mates and friends invited to attend.

It was back in 1959 when Cec, who lives in Royton, arrived from Jamaica to become professional at Crompton, a club he later played for as an amateur.
