A BUSY main road through the centre of Delph will be closed for one week in May, with drivers being warned to take alternative routes.
From Wednesday, May 16 the village High Street will be undergoing water main repairs and will be closed for six days.
Bus routes will be diverted, and the road will be closed to vehicles coming in and out of the village for 24 hours a day.
An Oldham Council spokesperson said: “A water main is to be repaired. Because it is a water main this will be at a shallow accessible depth, and therefore without the complexities of deeper supporting underground structures.
“The works must be carried out in the permitted time due to Whit Friday, May 25.”
The High Street is the main road in and out of the village of Delph and its closure could impact on the accessibility of shops and businesses there, including Co-op and Well Pharmacy.
The works are scheduled to be finished by Tuesday, May 22 with the road being reopened on the same day.
