A POPULAR Delph pub has been given a new lease of life following an extensive refurbishment and new tenants.

The Swan Inn, on King Street, launched its new look by welcoming guests warmly with a cold glass of bubbly and entertainment by talented duo, Blank Cheque, playing saxophone and guitar.
The pub has undergone a gorgeous refurbishment in a traditional style to make it a perfect fit in its beautiful country surroundings.
New touches include a variety of tartan upholstery, wallpaper depicting a range of country scenes, exposed oak and a collection of historical pictures of Delph.
All this together with elegant curtains, mirrors and three wood burning stoves makes a warming atmosphere for guests looking to enjoy a drink or meal.
Karen Connor and Lisa Craig, new co-licensees of The Swan Inn who have more than 25’ years experience in the trade, admitted they are very excited about the reopening.
“We strive to become an active part of the communities in which we live and work,” they said.
“This was reflected when we won a community hero award through our other pub, The Marple tavern. We are keen to replicate this at the Swan Inn.
“We are settling in to village life and looking forward to embracing the local community.”
Karen, Lisa and along with Karen’s son Simeon who is the pub’s cook, welcome customers old and new.
The pub’s kitchen serves a seasonal home-cooked menu, including homemade pies, burgers and salted caramel brownies.
Collaborating with Woodstock pizza the pub will be hosting wood-fired pizza and Prosecco parties as well as wine and cheese tasting evenings.
And as the summer rolls in, there are already plans in place to offer Greek-style meze sharing platters.
Sports fans can enjoy all major sports live on Sky HD, pub games include darts and crib in the tap room and there are plans to have a monthly live act.
Sunday is quiz night with a live and interactive quiz, hosted by Gordon Burns, ‘Quiz the Nation’ from 7.45pm-9pm. Contestants play via a smart phone or tablet and can win £1,000 plus a range of other prizes.

We were tenants at the swan 1976 to 1991,it was not an ugly duckling then thriving and popular, we had great times, quizzes, jazz nights,Halloween parties, fancy dress nights, great ask any of the locals at the time. However, we wish you all the best, and good luck, hope you both will be as happy as we were there, lovely village and people.hope to see you see you when we visit our family from North Wales.John and Hazel Brook
Hazel was you the landlady in 1989 when youths came to Delph and smashed the pub up? All started from local Delph lads punched one of these outsiders and cars were damaged. Then the outsiders went back to their town and came back to Delph with 3 vans!. Delph certainly didnt know what had hit it that night and it all happened in YOUR pub. The Swan got absolutely annihil;ated and hit The Manchester Evening News. Your husband was interviewed and said they were clean cut youths, not obvious yobos. funny how one wearing designer clothes makes one clean cut!.
Hi Tony, sadly Mum passed away recently, but I can indeed confirm that Dad and I (Rob) can recall that night, I can remember the Windows were out through and the attackers came armed with iron bars and someone got one over the head. The good old days eh!!
Rob, Sorry to hear about Mum. Yes i remember that night very well, you was having a Hawaii night of somekind and the pub was packed. Maybe it was you who gave the interview to the Manchester Evening News if you was the landlord. I recall it made the front page!. Excellent to see you have a good memory and thanks for response. TC buddy.
