YOUNG DANCERS are on their way to a glittering competition in Blackpool after smashing their £5,500 fundraising target in just six months.
Children from the Latin Steps Dance Company have been busy raising money to get to the Blackpool Junior Dance Festival in April, where they will be competing in formation teams of between eight and 14 dancers.
And now, after fundraisers including a Quiz Night, bag-packing in Tesco and Morrisons, market stalls and a sponsored silence, they have raised more than £6,400.
The money will go towards their glamorous costumes and team tracksuits, sparkly shoes, obligatory spray tans and transport.
And the group are particularly thankful to kind-hearted business Slaters Menswear who have donated 30 suit bags to the team to protect the costumes.
None of this would be possible without the group’s hard-working teacher Aimee along with a very talented ‘behind the scenes’ costume designer/seamstress and the dedicated parents.
