DENISE BROWN was the victor in Lady Captain’s Prize at Saddleworth Golf Club, their major event of the season.
She had nett rounds of 67 and 76 for a two-round total of 143 which was one clear of runner-up Kaye Orme whose 144 comprised returns of 74 and 70. She edged out Eileen Moores, who was third, on a card play off.
Eileen Moores (85-18-67) won the first-day prize while second-round honours went to Eileen Simpson (94-25-69).
David McNeill and Eddie Mills will represent Saddleworth in the regional final of the Lexus Challenge at Mottram Hall in September.
In the club qualifier, McNeill recorded the best medal score with 77-11-66 while Mills had the best gross round of 68.
Andy Dunster is in line to win his own competition – Vice Captain’s Prize – as he leads at the half-way stage of the 36-hole major.
His return of 78-11-67 was one clear of second-placed Richard Hughes (74-6-68) and Bryn Lord (80-12-68) who is lying third.
Martin Heap and Dean Jagger amassed 46 points in a four-ball Stableford to win the Seniors Open as home players claimed the first three places.
Second were Jeff Howarth and Danny Guerriero (44pts) on the card from Steve Harrison and Mick Warhurst.
F Bellerby and D Phare from Huddersfield club Outlane triumphed following a three way card play off in the Rabbits Open. They totalled 37 points in the four-ball Stableford.
