The club is making improvements to all their lighting to make themselves more energy efficient, and ‘green’ all around.

The club’s secretary, Jill Drake, confirmed low-level lighting on the steps at the club should be installed by the end of the first week in November.

“Dobcross Band Club is very pleased to report success in attaining a grant for almost £500 from the Saddleworth Hydro Sustainability Fund,” she said.

“This means we can proudly boast all the lights inside the Club are low energy, so reducing our energy consumption, minimising our carbon footprint and contributing towards making Saddleworth a greener community.”

As a result of their renovations, the club has a number of clear, round 40w SES/E14 lamps to give away for free. They are still in working order. Please ring the Club on 01457 873741 if you can use them.

Saddleworth Community Hydro is an award-winning project that has generated renewable electricity at Dovestone Reservoir since 2016.

The Fund is open to organisations based in Saddleworth and neighbouring areas and the deadline for applications is Friday, December 22. The next round of grants will be awarded by February 2018.
