Dobcross entrepreneur launches unique wine to celebrate Saddleworth

SADDLEWORTH HAS an enviable reputation for everything from delicious pies to champion muffins…

But now a smart-thinking entrepreneur is adding another mouth-watering delight to the community’s palate: WINE.

Dobcross subpostmaster Sukhi Singh has launched a white and red wine, branded as Simply Saddleworth Wine.p22 sukhi new bottles

And now discerning drinkers or those looking for a uniquely novel buy for Christmas are literally lapping up the wine – even though it comes from Chile.

“Saddleworth is very much a brand in its own right,” explained Sukhi. “Its name stands proud for so many good things so wine was an additional natural choice.

“It’s a celebration of living here and every time you raise a glass you’ll hopefully think that thought!”

He added: “My wines are selling very well at the Dobcross post office and now The Old Bell Inn at Delph, Woolyknits and The Gate Inn at Diggle have come on board too.

“And I’m offering a free wine delivery service, plus an optional gift wrap service.

“The wine is literally flying off the shelves at my shop and the hostelries are reporting favourable results from customers who realise Saddleworth Wines really are very palatable.”

Sukhi, who gained a place on TV’s Masterchef, is also launching his own range of handcrafted curry pastes early next year.

“But although they’ll be sold here, they won’t be marketed as Saddleworth curry,” he quipped.
